Feeling of accomplishment

Every time I step on the stairs of a State Capital building, I have this intense feeling of accomplishment.  In reality, this feeling begins to percolate when I see the capital building from a distance as I am approaching in my car.

This afternoon, I park my car at one of the coin-operated meters to enjoy a day on foot.  My first stop is at highly recommended Prevail Union Coffee House across the way from the huge 'Court Square Fountain' and the bronze statue of Rosa Parks.  As I begin sipping my coffee, I begin to lay out my plans for the day.
My first stop is at the footsteps of the first White House of the Confederacy across the street from the capital.  I try to imagine the family discussions in this house between President Jefferson Davis and his children during the Civil War.  I turn to face the capital building trying to decide where the five-point bronze star might be placed.  This star is the mark where Jefferson Davis was sworn into office as the first and only President representing the Confederacy.  As I approach this mark in history, I try to imagine the reactions of the thousands of citizens present on the wide street leading to the capital stairs.

As I put the State Capital behind me, I find myself waiting patiently as several people of color take selfies standing next to the bronze statue of Rosa Parks.  This statue is the mark where this courageous woman boarded the bus marking an important era in Civil Rights in our country.  This is the perfect way for me to close this accomplished day.  I do need to stop by the other highly recommended spot - JoZettie's Cupcakes for a homemade sweet potato cupcake.
