A revolt right before my eyes

As I approach American Village, I could hear the sound of young people chanting, "NO STAMP TAX!"  I quickly grab a map of the living museum and walk vigorously to the protest.  A large man dressed in attire from the 1700's is leading the students into revolt against the British Parliament.  I follow this enthusiastic group of rebels to an open field where there are racks of muskets lined up waiting to be fired.  Another man, dressed in a uniform enlists and quickly trains the students to take on the Brits.  They march. They fire their muskets.  They learn our history by participating in it.  The visitor center staff tells me over 30,000 students come annually.  I depart the group and venture on my own.  I reverently sit in a colonial chapel and pray.  I visit the Oval Office replica and find myself sitting in the Oval chair.  I picture myself being the President for a brief moment.
One cool oddity discovery is the 75 hand-crafted miniatures created by Pettus Randall.  Over 400 years of our history is on display in 35 dioramas.
I close this remarkable day walking through the National Veteran's Shrine honoring the thousands of American soldiers who fought the wars to keep our country free and safe.  What a day - learning our American History in a brought-to-life history textbook.  Rest of my day is leisurely travel about 75 miles south to Montgomery.
