If only these trees could talk

My first stop today is in the town of Montevallo (7,229). Along a slow creek, I discover a quaint small park, Orr Park. There are small children splashing in the shallow creek, with moms chatting away with each other on the dirt bank. I begin to search out the pattern of the windy path throughout the park. I spot several people walking, with a few of them being led by dogs on leashes. As I join the walk, my eyes wander everywhere. I do not want to miss one unique carving. Some are easy to spot, while others are in more obscure areas such as above my head.

An older gentleman, a local, tells me he thinks there are 30+ along the path - Tinglewood Trail.  I decide to make the loop twice as I said earlier, I did not want to miss one carving.  My second loop I discovered 6 more.  The story is a storm came through this area in 1993, killing many of the old trees in this park.  Tim Tingle, an artist in the area, decided to bring these legend trees back to life.

I take a detour driving about 4 miles down a very quiet road. It is easy to spot as this small doorless church sits at the edge of the trees right against the road. Robert Kendrick, a retired Alabama state trooper, hand built the unique dome-like prayer house 44 years ago (1978). Purposely, there is no door as it is an open invitation anytime. Inside, I find tethered 2 bibles, trinkets, a notebook full of prayer requests and 2 ball point pens for future recorded requests.

I decide to drive through the many small roads throughout Montevallo. Doing so, I find this simple garage brought to life honoring the life of Amelia Earhart (the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean). Another most amazing and fun day in the State of Alabama.
