Here’s the twist: while dreamers chase that elusive perfect game, candlepin history tells a different story; no one has ever achieved a flawless 300, with the highest score frozen at 245. With 20 delightfully unique candlepin lanes sprinkled throughout Maine and a spirited annual state tournament, this charming sport, which emerged in the 1880s, promises endless joy and nostalgia. 🎳✨

Rockport, ME
The heartfelt tale of Andre the Seal is beautifully immortalized in this memorial statue. A local harbor master discovered a young seal pup who had been abandoned and decided to name him Andre. As he cared for the seal, a deep bond formed between them. When the time came for Andre to be released back into the wild, he chose to stay at the harbor instead. His charm and playful nature captivated visitors, drawing people from far and wide to Rockport, where they would sometimes even swim alongside him. Andre’s fame grew to such heights that Hollywood made a movie about his life, aptly titled "Andre the Seal." And so, the story of this beloved seal began right here in Rockport!

Biddeford, ME
A young boy is on the phone—so what's the big deal? ☎️ Well, just wait until you find out who he's speaking with! 😲 This baseball-capped kid from Biddeford, Maine, is engaged in an incredible conversation that spans an astonishing 5,000 miles to Iraq! On the other end is a young girl from Slemani, Iraq. A mater of fact, that mural is in Iraq! It's a heartwarming moment: two kids, continents apart, sharing a simple yet meaningful chat. In today's world, that's truly something extraordinary! ❤️ A heartfelt thank you to artist Pat Perry for traveling to both countries to create this stunning mural that beautifully illustrates their connection!

Moose Sightings in Maine
What’s as big as a moose, as flat as a pancake, and weighs nothing? A moose’s shadow. The moose is one of the most majestic creatures you encounter while exploring North American forests. These magnificent animals weigh around 1,600 pounds and stand as tall as 6 feet. They serve as the state animal of Maine, where about 75,000 of them roam throughout this beautiful state. As you explore Maine, reminders of this massive animal's significance are everywhere. The state experiences approximately 250 moose crashes annually. If you had to guess the name of the largest lake in Maine, what would it be? If you guessed Moosehead Lake, you are correct!

Port Clyde, ME
"Life is like a box of chocolates" is a famous line from the beloved film "Forrest Gump." The scene where Forrest jubilantly runs up the walkway at Marshall Point Lighthouse, marking the conclusion of his cross-country adventure, was filmed at this extraordinary location. Visitors often take the opportunity to reenact that iconic moment here. Additionally, the lighthouse itself is a stunning sight to behold! "Run, Forrest, Run!"

Inside the Visitor Center, one finds an old advertisement of Maine delicacies at prices that will cause your mouth to drop compared to today's prices.

In fact, this museum proudly houses the largest operational fleet of its kind in New England!

Columbia Falls, ME

As you make your way to the National Headquarters of Wreaths Across America, you'll be greeted by a stunning display of American flags lining the roadside, standing proudly amidst vast stretches of fir trees. Just before arriving at Wreaths Across America, a magnificent eagle will capture your attention as it gracefully descends toward an American flag adorned with the word "Faith." Truly, a testament to American pride at its finest. 
At the Wreaths Across America National Headquarters, you'll discover a small museum dedicated to the organization’s mission, history, and inspiring stories from around the United States. Their mission is to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and educate future generations on the importance of freedom. Each wreath is made with care in Maine. Every December, over 3 million volunteers, including a third who are children, collaborate to deliver these handcrafted wreaths to more than 45,000 locations. Here are a couple of fun facts: 1) The image of the National Cemetery on the wall is actually wallpaper—just check out the triple light switch! and 2) The electric guitar displayed was a gift and autograph from the iconic rock musician, Ted Nugent!

Paul Bunyan, a colossal lumberjack and beloved folk hero in both American and Canadian lore, is renowned for his incredible feats. According to the tales, the town of Rumford became the base for this giant and his trusty blue sidekick.
