As you may already know, Maine holds the title of the largest state in New England, and believe it or not, the other five states could easily fit within its borders! 🛞That’s a lot of space to explore! While many travelers don’t venture to the western part of Maine, we make the trip just for you. Nestled in this serene region 🌲 is the charming town of Newry, home to just 411 residents. Here, amidst breathtaking natural beauty, you’ll find stunning waterfalls, picturesque hiking trails, and a historic bridge that invites you to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of the East Coast.
Eastport, ME
Do you see it? Not the person sitting on the rocks! Look down below to the right. Of the millions of rocks on the rocky coast of Maine, one of them resembles the head of a big bear. When you get close to it—and you can, as it is over 20 feet big—it doesn't look like a bear; it just looks like a rock! 🥹😆 It is a BEAR NECESSITY to come and see it for yourself on the coastline of Eastland, Maine.
Moosehead Lake, ME
Close your eyes and picture yourself aboard the steamboat Katahdin, setting off on an exhilarating journey across the sparkling waters of Moosehead Lake. Take in the awe-inspiring vistas that surround you—this deep, cold-water lake, located in the heart of Piscataquis County in Northwestern Maine, captivates your senses. As the largest lake in Maine and the largest entirely within New England, Moosehead Lake showcases a breathtaking natural beauty that leaves you spellbound. You become fully immersed in the stunning landscape, where untamed wilderness stretches endlessly before you. Acadia National Park, ME
Over 4 million people step into this majestic national park each year. The shores, rock formations, and breathtaking sunsets are just the beginning of this mystic experience.
Acadia National Park beckons me as an adventurer with its diverse landscapes, offering an array of paved roads, historic carriage trails, and scenic hiking paths just waiting to be explored. As I traverse the various trails and pathways, I take a moment to let my gaze drift—there's a wealth of wonder in even the tiniest details of my surroundings. From delicate wildflowers to the rustling leaves of ancient trees, the allure of Acadia is all around me, inviting me to discover its many treasures.
No Trains, Planes, or Automobiles Here! The carriage roads and bridges in Acadia National Park were crafted by John D. Rockefeller Jr. He envisioned these paths not just for his own enjoyment but also to share with the public. Designed for multiple forms of transportation—including carriages, horseback riding, walking, and biking—these roads strictly prohibit cars! Rockefeller, who was against the use of automobiles on the island, took a hands-on approach in creating this network of carriage roads. The bridges, constructed with steel-reinforced concrete, feature an exterior of natural stone, allowing them to harmonize beautifully with the surrounding landscape. In total, there are 16 stone bridges throughout the park.

Make sure to stock up before you embark on those final 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail. In the quaint town of Monson (population 439), it's essential to check your supplies to ensure you have enough food and water for the rugged terrain leading to the summit of Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park. The main road bustles with fellow hikers making their last stop for provisions and sharing stories with one another! You’ll also find a small information center eager to help you prepare for your adventure. The surrounding area boasts numerous side trails that lead to stunning vistas, peaceful lakes, and hidden gems—perfect for photography or simply enjoying the tranquil beauty of Maine's wilderness.
