This art piece is created by 6,399 beetles and butterflies!
Each piece of bug art houses thousands of beetles, moths and butterflies. This unique bug art was created by John Hampson in the 1800's. Only 6 pieces of John's bug art exist today and are on display here.
How many years did John spend in collecting 1000's of bugs for each art piece? Then the articulate placing of each bug on the canvas. Can't even imagine the patience needed!
Also on display are two floors of taxidermy animals.
A meteorite fragment, which fell to our planet over 4,000 years ago, is another cool find at the museum.

Vermont offers some of the most beautiful skiing on the East Coast. The state proudly hosts 25 ski resorts which consists of 170 ski lifts.
Stowe Resort is known as the "Ski Capital of the East." One of the main attractions is Mt Mansfield as it is ranked as the tallest peak in Vermont. It screams to the skies at 4,395 feet!
The Green Mountains, located in the northern part of Vermont, are beyond beautiful!

Shelburne, VT
In the small town of Shelburne (pop 7,717) a special factory exists. This is not an ordinary factory, as it hand-crafts cuddly teddy bears for the kid in all of us.
This wonderland births close to 500,000 teddy bears yearly.
Each bear is hand cut, sewn, stuffed and stitched by talented people,
"Bearcho" was the first bear created in 1981.
If a teddy bear ever sustains any type of injury (dog bite, loss of an arm, etc) the bear can be sent to the teddy bear hospital where it will receive a hospital wrist band upon admission. The loving nurses will nurse it back to health. Then the bear will be returned to the loving owner ready to share endless hugs and cuddles.
Each Vermont bear is easily identifiable as the words, "Born in Vermont" surrounds the pupil of thier eyes.
Burlington, VT
An award winning pedestrian open air mall in the heart of Burlingtonm, Vermont. The 4-block brick path offers hundreds of unique shops to browse and places to eat. The experience is very peaceful with plently of local musicians along the path.
A traffic- snarled busy street is transformed into a beautiful, peaceful pedestrian mall!
A Day Road Trip on the Champlain Islands, VT
Let us begin our leisure day trip, through the Lake Champlain Islands, by a making a short stop in front of the home of Donna Sue Shaw. Enter a somewhat plain wooden shed for an assortment of delicious homemade pies and baked goodies, which are made by the hands of Donna herself. All purchases are completely on the honor system.
Back on the road, we see plenty of apple orchards offering apple picking for the public. Allenholm Farms continue to produce some of the best Vermont apples at their 7th generation farm. This farm began in 1870 and is the oldest commercial apple orchard in Vermont. Let's make another stop to pick a bag full of fresh apples.
As we enjoy our full day exploring the islands, we need to also keep a look out for 5 magical castles scattered along the main roads. A Swiss immigrant, Harry Barber, built these castle as a tribute to his home country. We end today feeling relaxed as we thoroughly enjoyed being away from it all!
- Dog Chapel/Dog Mountain
Yes, dogs do go to heaven! For over 20 years, thousands of dog owners and thier four legged friends travel to this beautiful, remote location. A chapel, picnic area, gift shop and dog friendly trails up Dog Mountain makes this a fantastic day for everyone. One can spend hours, inside the chapel, reading all the handwritten notes posted covering the walls of Dog Chapel. St. Johnsbury, Vermont
Hero's Welcome Country Store
Hero's Welcome General Store continues serving local residents, visitors, and tourists since 1899. Shelves are packed full, aisles are jammed and walls are completely covered with almost everything your imagination can come up with to buy. If you can't find it here, you probably don't need it! At times, over 2,000 people enter this local store in one day. They arrive by car or boat to shop,shop and shop. A fun, tasty must when road tripping on the Lake Champlain Islands in the northwestern part of Vermont.
